What is a MASTERMIND?

Enrollment for the 2022-23 Mastermind will open after the free 3-Day Start-The-School-Year-Strong Leadership Challenge for grades 6-12 ends on June 28, 2022. Limited space will be available. Like last year, participating in the Mastermind will be a 4-figure investment, comparable to music lessons and club sports. The total annual investment for the 2022-23 school year is $2,197. The Early Bird rate of $1,997 is available until July 31. Payments may be made in:

1) One full payment

2) 2 payments: Half by August 1, 2022 (Early Bird: $998.50, Regular Rate: $1,098.50), and the second half by January 3, 2023

We don't know yet! We will do our best to place middle school students and high school students in separate groups. We are willing to form groups based on the students that are interested in enrolling, so the best thing you can do is contact Brenda and let her know you're interested - [email protected].

It usually takes at least 4-6 weeks to see significant progress toward set goals. You may cancel on or before the third group meeting for a refund, minus 50% for the administration fee.

If there is another group mentorship session being offered, he or she may join that one to make up the session. If not, Ms. Brenda will try to meet with your child via Zoom to make up a missed class.

Missing too many sessions may have a negative effect in leadership development, since owning personal choices and following through on commitments are two leadership qualities our Mastermind members are working to develop. Breaking one's word to oneself can compromise personal integrity and even self-respect. It would be better to cancel membership until your student is able to commit the time and energy required to experience progress in his or her goals for personal leadership growth. 

Middle school students in grades 6-12 are usually able to learn effectively in a virtual environment (Zoom). 

We understand that the virtual learning environment poses some challenges that in-person learning environments do not. We have offered both in-person and virtual Mastermind groups, and can conclude that each has pros and cons. The benefits of a virtual group are convenience, the opportunity to interact with students from other states and school districts, and more focused discussions (Yes! Really!). We encourage students to bring an open mind and teachable spirit to receive high quality learning from a virtual environment. The future will only present more virtual interactions--not less. However, if after every effort is made and a student is just not able to adjust and accept a virtual learning environment, we understand.

It is presumed that parents invest for education and activities that are deemed valuable, necessary, and worthwhile for their student's long-term benefit. If the enrollment investment for the Mastermind seems unaffordable, we encourage an honest assessment of all activities that require financial investment and carefully, prayerfully, discerning which few will be priorities in which to invest for the 2022-23 school year.

A few helpful assessment questions may be, "Which activities will result in positive character transformation?" and "Which activities will push my youth slightly out of his/her comfort zone into the fear/faith/growth zone?" and "If my youth could learn to set goals, build good habits and break bad habits, grow in faith, and lead him/herself well...what dollar amount is that worth to me?" In other words, "How much would I pay to prevent potential problems that my child would face without strong training in personal leadership?"

The ultimate question to ask is, "How much do I VALUE personal leadership development for my teen?"
